Homer likely wrote The Odyssey to portray how perseverance is essential, everyone is fighting a hard battle, accumulating progress slowly but surely. The question was basically answered in the video. I would like to add that love is indeed a serious mental disease, to stay loyal to someone after 10 years is insane. After every long battle, there is always someone waiting for you with open hands.
